JFAB 2018: Rockin’ and Rollin’ in October

As the city celebrates its 300th Anniversary, it is fitting that this year's Justice For All Ball’s (JFAB) 30th Anniversary pays tribute to the French and Acadian heritage that makes New Orleans and Louisiana one of the most fun-loving places in the world.

On that note, our 2018 JFAB Co-Chairs, Sharonda Williams, and Kevin Colomb, along with the Board and the JFAB Committee, are pleased to announce that Calvin C. Fayard, Jr. (pictured left) of Fayard & Honeycutt has accepted their invitation to serve as the 2018 JFAB Honorary Chair.

"This is such a special year for the Justice For All Ball, and we are delighted that Mr. Fayard came on board to help us celebrate this 30th Anniversary. So many of his cases have involved representing individuals and families seeking civil justice," said Executive Director, CC Kahr.

Mr. Fayard is a skilled lawyer and negotiator whose practice focuses on complex litigation, particularly in the environmental area. He has been involved in many high-profile cases over the years, most recently serving on the MDL Plaintiffs Steering Committee for the BP Deep Water Horizon litigation.

As lead negotiator, Mr. Fayard was one of the architects of the settlement with BP, which is the largest civil class action settlement in United States history. In addition to his law practice, he is involved in many legal, arts and education boards and is active throughout the New Orleans and Denham Springs communities. We’ll have a full profile on Mr. Fayard in our June e-news.

In keeping with our French and Cajun heritage theme, we’ll be rockin’ and rollin’ Zydeco-style with Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters for our Tri-Decade festivities. There will be plenty of floor space at the Audubon Tea Room for dancing to one of the city’s favorite bands!

And, no evening would be complete without a stroll down memory lane.  So much has happened in the 30 years of the JFAB. From Gallier Hall to Audubon Tea Room, from our first Honorary Chair and inaugural Board, we’ll remember the trailblazing moments in the history of the JFAB and The Project. As an added treat, we’ll applaud the many people in the legal, judicial educational and business community who, throughout these past decades, pulled together to bring us to where we are today.

As always, we’ll have plenty of great restaurants and bars offering some of New Orleans’ and the region’s finest foods, and of course, we’ll have a signature cocktail or two for raising a toast to commemorate that justice is alive and kicking!

Mark your calendars for Friday, October 5, 2018, at the Audubon Tea Room, 8 pm to midnight. The Patron Party will precede the Ball and will be on the grounds of the Audubon Zoo. Individual tickets will be available soon.
