Some of you were younger. Some of you were not even born yet! And, others, were too young to think about “what you wanted to be” or how you would connect with others in your community.

“Cheers” and “L.A. Law” were the Primetime Emmy Outstanding Comedy and Drama shows, respectively. The latter may have inspired some of you to join the legal profession!
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science awarded “Driving Miss Daisy”the Best Picture, and its star, Jessica Tandy, Best Actress. Daniel Day-Lewis received the Best Actor Oscar for “My Left Foot.”
Bobby Hebert was the star Quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, and led them to a disappointing third place in the NFC Western division.
In the same year, the very first Justice For All Ball (JFAB) was held at Gallier Hall on Friday, September 8th, opening the door for private donations to supplement the recently formed, The Pro Bono Project.
In celebration of the 30th Annual Justice for All Ball, we applaud the individuals and institutions that support The Pro Bono Project’s mission to provide free civil legal aid to underserved members of our community. For the next 30 days, we will hear stories from those who have attended and supported the Ball, and The Pro Bono Project throughout these past 30 years.
Pictured is the 1989 invitation art by local artist Lee Tucker, who generously gave his talent in support of a worthy cause. This tradition continues today, and the 2018 JFAB will present a piece created for the 30th Anniversary by local artist, Sharika Mahdi.

A lot can change in 30 years, and like everything must, our event, our art, and our supporters have evolved over the years.
But, the one thing that has not changed is the mission of The Pro Bono Project, which the Justice For All Ball, in its name and purpose, reflects so beautifully: to provide access to justice for all.
